The Minnesota Timberwolves came into tonight’s game after beating the Thunder last night. It’s the night after a back-to-back and the Spurs came out on fire. The Timberwolves got hit with a flurry of offense out of the gates and the Spurs used their quickness. One of the players that set the tone for the Spurs was Jeremy Sochan as he was able to make all the energy plays and timely plays to start the game. Sochan’s energy spread through the team and his hustle plays helped out big time. On the night Sochan finished with 14 points and 4 rebounds but defensively he made some huge stops too. Both Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson stepped up to the plate with some big shots in the second half of this game. It seemed like the Spurs couldn’t miss at all tonight as they were shooting above 50% almost the whole game. Combined Devin and Keldon had 41 points against the Timberwolves. It was the Spurs unconscious shooting from the field that had made them unstoppable. The Spurs were up by 30 points during the game and it seemed as if the Timberwolves were just playing catch up.

If you could take some positives away from this game for the Timberwolves it would be rhythm. Coach Finch wanted to see the team play together a little longer that’s why he didn’t take them out in garbage time. This Timberwolves team has the chance to be special and tonight they didn’t get the chance to showcase that at all. It’s tough to play at your best when you have to dig yourself out of a hole. One good thing that came out of tonight’s game was the fact that Karl-Anthony Towns & D’Angelo Russell were able to get their game going and finding a true groove. Russell and Towns had a combined 52 points out of the 106 points that the Timberwolves scored tonight. The Wolves were clawing back all night but it wasn’t enough to stop the bleeding. The best thing about the NBA is the fact it’s an 82-game season and the Timberwolves will play the Spurs again on Wednesday. It’s all about positive vibes and the Timberwolves know they have more games and they know that a loss like this doesn’t define them.

Coach Finch has a lot to figure out with this roster but anything is possible when you have a true leader like Coach Finch. The Timberwolves will bounce back as Anthony Edwards put this loss on himself and that’s a huge stride for such a young player. If the Timberwolves can limit the breakdowns defensively and make sure that they are knocking down their shots anything is possible for Minnesota.
