The Timberwolves and Celtics came into this game tonight to get back in the win column. The Celtics lost to the Indiana Pacers and Minnesota to the Dallas Mavericks. The Timberwolves who are still without Karl-Anthony Towns went into Boston looking for their 17 win of the season. Tonight was one of those games where it was neck and neck to start off and then the Celtics pulled away. The Celtics came into this game with a game plan to make things tough on Rudy Gobert. The Celtics even had Jayson Tatum playing defense on him in the paint to disrupt. The Celtics were able to crowd the paint with defenders of all sizes as they were able to swipe at the ball and took away his easy buckets. Jayson Tatum was getting it going early in this game as he was able to get to the paint and his step back with ease.

Tatum has his offensive game going and the matchup between him and Anthony Edwards was special. When Tatum gets into that offensive mode he makes it tough on any defense trying to guard him. Tatum finished with 30 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds on the night against Minnesota. His counterpart Jaylen Brown finished with 36 points, 3 assists, and 8 rebounds as he took over the 2nd half. When Brown gets it going he’s as good as Tatum when it comes to scoring/defending. When both Tatum/Brown have it going they’re a tough duo to handle because they both can do it all.

The Timberwolves were led by Anthony Edwards who had 30 points as he was the lone star for the Wolves that kept them in the game. Edwards was making some tough shots to keep them close in this one but it wasn’t enough. The Celtics were living with Edwards getting him but it looked as though they wanted everyone else to get theirs but him. D’Angelo Russell added 21 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds tonight as he only scored 3 points in the second half after an 18-point outburst. When Russell has it going on the offensive end it makes things so much easier for the team. DLo is the facilitator and he’s the bucket maker when the Timberwolves need it but tonight the Celtics just had too much firepower for them.

Overall it was a great effort but the Timberwolves but just making an effort doesn’t get the job done. Granted they played the best team in the East but they will need to clean things up and get KAT back if they want to make these runs against dominant teams in the NBA. Up next the Timberwolves will be in Miami trying to get back in the win column as they’re on a true road trip that will test them.
