After word that Space Jam 2 was having difficulty recruiting talent to star alongside LeBron James, it is said that the new Tune Squad is starting to fill out. Along with LeBron Space Jam 2 is said to star Golden State sniper Klay Thompson, Portland Trailblazers star Dame Lillard, LeBron’s newest teammate Anthony Davis, and his banana boat brethren Chris Paul in “key roles,” according to a tweet from Shams Charania.
Space Jam 2 isn’t going to just be filled with NBA talent. Space Jam 2 has is reportedly reaching across the aisle and recruiting top-tier WNBA talent including point god Diana Taurasi, and the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney, of the Los Angeles Sparks.
Last fall, it was announced “Black Panther” and “Creed” director Ryan Coogler would be producing Space Jam 2 and “Random Acts of Flyness” creator Terrance Nance would be directing.
Space Jam 2 is a sequel to the smash hit 1996 film starring Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, and the Looney Tunes. Filming is expected to occur during the current NBA offseason and Space Jam 2 is currently set to release July 16, 2021.
