Drake is having the best summer in 2019 but is still looking ahead to 2020. Following Rick Ross feature on Drake’s “Money in the Grave,” it’s only seemed necessary the 6 God return the favor in Ross’ “Gold Roses.”
This single however stems from a conversation the two were having about the late Nipsey Hussle. Ross hopes Nipsey had an idea of the impact that he made and left on these streets. This is just one of many song/references to Nipsey since his passing. Many artists have felt that Nipsey wasn’t celebrated nationally for the things he did for the community until he was no longer here. The Sentiment can be felt from which Drake says,
“ …Before I’m gone outta this place, put some flowers in my face, won’t you? Let me know that I did okay, don’t wait ’til some other day, they love to wait ’til it’s too late, it’s too late “
The track comes off Ross’ upcoming album Port of Miami 2, which drops August 9th via MMG/Epic. As a sequel to his debut album“Port of Miami,” back in 2006, it’s only right he brings it back to where it all started. Ross will also release a memoir, HURRICANES, on September 3rd, co-written by Neil Martinez-Belkin. The book will detail Ross’ upbringing, his rise in the industry and his time working as a drug dealer.
“My story has always been deeper than rap,” Ross said, “With this book, I wanted to go deeper than I ever have. I wanted to tell people about the life of William Leonard Roberts.”
Wayne was right, everything is going to be alright as long as Drake is on every hook “Gold Roses” is another Drake-assisted jewel on the Rozay discography.
