While most of twitter was still recovering from the news of DeMarcus Cousins signing with the Warriors, a new piece of news came across that grabbed our attention just the same. It is being reported by Joe Cowley that Jimmy Butler is not happy in Minnesota and has no intentions of signing a contract extension.
Butler is reportedly “Fed up” specifically with Karl-Anthony Towns and his “nonchalant” attitude. Butler is very driven by winning and he clearly is unsure if some of his younger teammates have the same mindset. He also is not happy with the way he feels other teams and players show more excitement to try and recruit with him and not getting that same vibe from his current team.
After next season Butler can be an unrestricted free agent and from the sounds of this story it means he would walk away with no hesitation. Kyrie Irving can also be an unrestricted free agent next summer and the two players have not been shy about their desire to play together. It would be in Minnesota’s best interest to try and get their players on the same page or think about finding a trade partner for Butler before they are left empty handed.
