After a seven-year hiatus, Kelis returns with a new single “Midnight Snack.” The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter takes it back to her Kaleidoscope days as she serves up a tasty after-hours jam. Featuring production from UK group The FaNaTiX and Kelis singing to her lover about some late-night affection.

“Guilty pleasures, I just can’t deny / I’m greedy and I don’t care,” she sings on the irresistible hook.

This past January, she did provide an assist on newcomer Ashnikko’s DEMIDEVIL standout “Deal With It.” “Midnight Snacks” also sees an accompanying visual directed by photographer/director Adrienne Raquel, giving off seductive vibes while various references to food appear throughout. The Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef is surrounded by sweet treats in a retro dreamscape, “inspired by the 1990s and paired with the glamour of the 1970s.” Even those it’s been nearly a decade since Tasty and its breakout hit “Milkshake,” it’s clear that the veteran songstress remains a master of mixing the culinary with the intimate.

“I heard the beat, thought it was dope, and the first thing that came to mind was ‘Midnight Snacks,’” said Kelis. “It’s funny to me, but I like the fact that you can take sex and food, and you can put these two things together, and they’re totally interchangeable. I love that.”
