Both teams started off the 2023 Season off slow, the Eagles didn’t come out airing the ball out in what was a rainy matchup against the Patriots like we were use to seeing from last year, and tried to get the run game going but struggled against a very good run defense. The Vikings started off the 2023 with a loss to the Buccaneers. The Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson picked up right where he left off last season, and rookie receiver Jordan Addison had a big play for 39 yards for a touchdown to get his career started.
Don’t be surprised if the Eagles come out slinging the ball and try to get the air raid going that was so successful last year. Jalen Hurts only threw for 170 yards on 22/33 passing and only ran for 37 yards on 9 attempts. The Patriots defense ran a lot of blitzes with spies to keep track of Jalen Hurts. The Eagles defense looked good to start the game but got sloppy and tired mid 3rd quarter and showed it because the Patriots were able to march down the field. There will be multiple key pieces missing this matchup in young saftey Reed Blankenship and Kenneth Gainwell, while Veteran defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is questionable.
Minnesota couldn’t seem to get the offense rolling Sunday while still going for a total 385 yards of total offense but couldn’t break away from Tampa Bay. Kirk Cousin threw for 344 yards on 33/44 passing but threw a late interception in the 2nd quarter that took the game into halftime tied which was a win for Tampa Bay. The running game Minnesota used to have won’t be as dominant as it has been in the past with Dalvin Cook leaving this offseason. If the Vikings want to try and come in, and leave Philadelphia with a win they will need to try and establish the run and play a clean game with no turnovers as the Eagles were in the top 5 in forced turnovers last season averaging 1.6 turnovers a game. Be expecting the Vikings to get Justin Jefferson going early in the game Thursday night.
