Back in 2003 this Tinker Hatfield designed sneaker debuted in the outdoor-inspired “Escape” colorway. Marking Nike’s 30th anniversary of its beloved Air Huarache this popular colorway will be re-relased in 2021, looking exactly like it was in ’03.
This sneaker start out with a traditional teal-ish blue hue neoprene bootie offset with Storm Grey hits that poke out through the mid-foot and the lower parts of the heel, paired with earthy Brown overlays atop the nubuck toe boxes and the mid-foot overlays. The former being swarmed with a lighter “Bisque” hue while the latter is coated with a muted “Rope” tone. This Nike Air Huarache features a supportive ankle strap and White midsole atop a Black rubber outsole completes the design.
The Air Huarache was designed by Tinker Hatfield as part of a directional series that focused on containment with a neoprene interior bootie and reductive upper design; in addition to running released to the public in 1991. Releasing very sparsely throughout the earlier half of the 1990s, the Huaraches caught the attention of the sneaker sub-culture in the early 2000s thanks to collaborations with Stussy and other sought-after colorways like the “Escape” from 2003.
The Nike Air Huarache “Escape” will release on April 16th at select retailers and Nike.com set at $120. Check out the official photos below:
