Revealed by both Lil Uzi Vert as well as on-foot of Pharrell himself, during a special episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping his next sneaker collaboration called, the Humanrace Sičhonas. As a new chapter in the evolution of Pharrell’s Humanrace brand — one inspired by the Indigenous American Dakota tribe’s customs, traditions, and culture. The name Sičhonas comes from a Dakota phrase for “connecting to the earth” (“barefoot”).
“I chased the experience I remember feeling as a kid when I walked barefoot on grass, sand, and rocks,” said Pharrell while discussing the shoe’s design. “Feeling the texture, the temperature, the moisture … that primal sense of freedom was a north star objective with this project.”
The first Humanrace Sičhona to release will be a “Team Royal Blue/Easy Coral/Clear Aqua.” Adidas’ Futurenatural technology supplies cushioning, and a Humanrace branded strike crosses the midfoot while further branding appears on the tongue tabs and insoles. A stripped-back silhouette inspired by the mechanics of the human foot and the feeling of being barefoot, the outsoles get in on the action too, featuring a computer-printed Humanrace typography pattern.
Though the first colorway to be revealed the Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sichona in its Green colorway this will be friends and family exclusive not be available to the public, you can expect colorways like the “Royal Blue” pair to release on August 27th at select retailers and adidas.com set at $180 USD.
