Joyner Lucas has called his hero, Will Smith for the official remix to his aptly-titled single “Will.”
The 51-year-old icon does not disappoint, in his nearly two-minute verse. Will praises some of the legends who inspired him. This includes Nelson Mandela, Julius Erving, Muhammad Ali, and Martin Lawrence.
He also pays his respect to the late James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” and reflects on his legacy, including 60 million records sold.
“Must’ve forgot that I really get busy / They must’ve forgot who invented ‘Get Jiggy,'” Will raps on the remix. “Back before there was streaming sales / Way before all the iTunes and the fans had to get CDs still / Sixty million records sold, I was on fire, I ain’t even need a grill / Did it all with no cuss words, I ain’t have to curse just to keep it real.”
“I was on fire, I didn’t even need a grill / Did it all with no cuss words / I ain’t have to curse just to keep it real,”
Will has made an appearance on the remix of his son Jaden single “Icon,” so fans know the rap skills are there so for him to make an appearance on a song that give him his flower while he still living comes as no surprise.
Lucas will join Will and Jaden for a special episode of Smith’s new Snapchat series, “Will At Home,” where they will discuss the “Will” video, which has over 21 million views on YouTube.
