Last week, J. Cole’s professional basketball career in the inaugural Basketball Africa League, came to a close after leaving the Rwanda Patriots returning home due to a “family obligation.” Today J. Cole drops the latest video for “p u n c h i n’ . t h e . c l o c k,” arriving shortly after Swizz Beatz previewed an unreleased Cole verse on the late DMX‘s “Bath Salts.”
The two-minute visual sees the Fayetteville rapper hits the streets of New York, He hails a cab before rapping out the backseat window for the majority, and then he grabs some food from a street vendor while walking the streets of Manhattan while the track’s epilogue — a sample of a Damian Lillard post-game interview — plays out.
Directed by longtime collaborator Scott Lazer, who also helmed Cole’s visuals like “KOD,” “ATM,” “Kevin’s Heart” and the Applying Pressure: The Off-Season documentary. This is the third visual from Cole’s chart-topping album The Off-Season following “a p p l y i n g . p r e s s u r e” and “a m a r i.”
