Primetime Preview: Kansas City Chiefs Vs Detroit Lions (TNF Week 1)

Primetime Preview: Kansas City Chiefs Vs Detroit Lions (TNF Week 1)

Featured

The NFL season is upon us once again and we get a matchup of two teams that are ready to prove themselves this season. The Chiefs look to defend their throne and show the world why they are the Superbowl Champs. The Lions are trying to break a playoff drought since 2016. The Lions got going late last year and were firing on all cylinders. Jared Goff said in a report that he’ll embrace a shootout against the Chiefs as for the first time these two Quarterbacks met in a regular season the Jared Goff’s Rams beat the Chiefs 54-51.

The Chiefs are aiming to go back to back this season, however the Chiefs lost a couple main pieces from the championship team they had last year in JuJu Smith-Schuster. This season they’re going to be with out their start tight end as he hyper extended his knee as reports broke yesterday on September 5th. Any team will fear the Chiefs as long as Patrick Mahomes is leading the team and coming out slinging every week.

The Lions are looking to make the playoffs and win the NFC North, in a year where the NFC North isn’t as strong as it was last year from the Vikings losing key players and the Bears are still in the middle of a rebuild. The Lions may surprise some fans this year. If Jared Goff isn’t the answer at QB they took a player that should’ve been a Heisman’s finalist if he didn’t get injured last season in Hendon Hooker.

This game to start the season will have plenty of fireworks as the two electric offenses take the field Thursday night for a primetime game to open the season, these two teams will not disappoint in what should be a thriller of a game as Mahomes is much watch TV for fans around the world, and the hungry young Lions will look to shock the NFL defending champs

Final score prediction Lions 38 – Chiefs 42

SneakerReporter NFL: Saquon Barkley Gets Paid

Featured

Contracts Talks and Contract Agreements.

After months and months of waiting for a new deal for one of the best running backs in the NFL, Saquon and New York Giants came to an agreement on a 1 year $11 million dollar extension. Saquon Barkley was eyeing a contract in the range of $16 million, while the New York Giants were only willing to offer $13 million. The running back market continues to be a big question around the league with many star running backs that are leaving them feeling underpaid. The trend right now is to not pay the running backs. Saquon was willing to holdout and forgo the 2023 NFL season until he could find a contract that is around what he was seeking. By holding out it would’ve shown his true value to the New York Giants, but by doing so he knew it would hurt his team and teammates, as he is the center piece to the Giants offense.

Saquon’s Health.

The former No. 2 pick has been the team’s identity when healthy since they moved on from former quarterback Eli Manning. Injuries have been the big questions for most of Saquon’s career, as a knee and ankle injury kept him out of 21 games from 2019 through 2021. The big questions for the Giants is do they pay the man that when is healthy is one of the most valuable offensive weapons in the league or do they move on and look for either an up and coming back that is a free agent or a running back that the could draft and mold into what they’re looking for.

Team Development.

The New York Giants are looking to make the next step in the NFC East as they finished 12-5 last season and as the second place team in that division. The Giants will need all hands on deck as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys are progressing faster than projected. As the Eagles went to the Super Bowl last season, and look to go back there again this year. Behind a healthy Saquon the league is on watch for what this team can do as Daniel Jones looks to continue to show that he can belongs in this league with his dual threat build. The new pieces that the Giants signed this off season and picked in the draft should take a giant load off Saquon’s hand and help him stay healthy this season and be a top running back in the league this year.

Cincinnati Bengals Vs Buffalo Bills

The Cincinnati Bengals will be taking on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday for the divisional round and a shot at punching their way into the AFC Championship Game.

This game will be huge as this was the game at the end of the season that wasn’t played due to the tragic events surrounding the health of Damar Hamlin who’s recovered tremendously. There will be a lot of emotion on the field from both sides and this will be a huge matchup filled with explosive offenses. The Buffalo Bills who are led by Josh Allen will be looking to take the Bengals out of the game quickly. Josh Allen is probably the best dual-threat quarterback in the NFL and he can make you pay with his arm and his legs. Allen has been at the top of his game as of late but stumbled last week against the Dolphins. Allen will look to bounce back and he has his weapons Diggs/Davis ready to help him in this game as both will need to play a huge part in this one. The Bills don’t want to be obvious with play calling as they will need to sprinkle in some Devin Singletary in the game to keep the Bengals defense honest. The Bills defense will have their hands full trying to slow down Burrow, Chase, and Mixon but they are up to the challenge as they have one of the best defenses in the NFL coming into this one. The Bills defense took a blow from Miami and will try to bounce back this week.

The Bengals come into this game fresh off an impressive win against the Ravens where it legit came down to the last play. The Bengals will need to keep the ball in Joe Burrow’s hand with clock management. If the Bengals offense can set the tone in this game it could be a great day for the Bengals. If the Bengals are going to be successful it will have to do with the running game with Joe Mixon as the Cincy has the advantage in the backfield. Joe Mixon will need to use his legs and hands to keep this team going so it opens up the field for Chase/Higgins/Boyd to operate. Joe Burrow will need to take care of the ball and limit his turnovers as the Bills defense will try to bait him into making a mistake in this one. The Bengals defense has been impressive all season and Jessie Bates has a lot to do with that. Bates will need to keep their eyes glued to Allen’s every move as he will be the one trying to quarterback that Bengals defense.

Both teams were in dogfights last weekend and this one should be another dogfight as both teams want to make it to the Super Bowl or the season is a bust. The Bengals tasted the Super Bowl last year but this year they will try to win it and the Bills are trying to get to that point as well.

Score Prediction: Bengals Win (31-28)

Dallas Cowboys Vs San Francisco 49ers

This will be a rematch from last season’s playoffs as the Dallas Cowboys feel like they beat themselves by not clocking the ball in time. This year they will be looking to get revenge after eliminating Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend. The 49ers on the other hand took care of business as they beat the Seattle Seahawks with ease.

The Dallas Cowboys will need to be able to play their style of football tonight. If Dak Prescott can limit his turnovers the Cowboys should be right in this game where they need to be. As of late Prescott has had interception issues but he will be able to redeem himself with a win against the 49ers. Dak has one of the best combo running backs with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. The Cowboys have won all season with Dak and the running game so they will need to keep that energy up. Look for the Cowboys to try to establish the run against this dominant 49ers defense. The Cowboys line will be the true judge of this game because if Nick Bosa gets to Dak it could be a long day. One of the good things is that Dak gets the ball out quickly so he has reliable hands in Ceedee Lamb, Gallup, and Hilton now. If the Cowboys can make it tough on that 49er secondary then this could be the game of the day. The Cowboys defense is led by Micah Parsons and he will be trying to get to Brock Purdy all day long. If the Cowboys defense can make the rookie make a mistake in this game it could go in the favor of the Cowboys. The Cowboys will be trying to slow down Deebo/McCaffrey and that’s not a small task at all.

The 49ers are playing with Brock Purdy who has been lights out in this season including playoffs. The good thing about Purdy is the fact that he’s got some true weapons around him to make his situation a lot easier. If Purdy can get the ball out to CMC/Deebo/Kittle it could be a long day for the Cowboys defense if he catches them in space. This will be a true test for this team and the 49ers have already been battle-tested this season, especially with injuries. The 49ers have the players to get it done on both ends of the field so it’s going to come down to who wants it more and who has the better trio. The defense for the 49ers will be trying to get to Dak as they want to make it tough on him. The 49ers run defense is at the top of the rankings so it could be tough to run on this team.

This will be one of the best games this weekend and we should be in for a true battle for a chance to head to the NFC Championship game.

Score Prediction: Cowboys Win (24-17)

Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Kansas City Chiefs

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday for the divisional round and a shot at punching their way into the AFC Championship Game.

The Jaguars pulled off a miraculous comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers a game in which the Jaguars trailed 27-0 and ultimately won 31-30. The playoff jitters started early for Trevor Lawrence but they turned into a whole different team in the second half. The Jaguars are taking on the number one seed in the AFC and they come off a bye week in arguably the toughest stadium to play in, in the NFL. The Jaguars defense will have to defend A high-powered Chiefs offense that has been playing well. The Jaguars offense will have to be nearly perfect to be able to stay in this game and pull off an upset.

The Chiefs come in well-rested and come off a BYE Week since they were able to obtain the first seed. If the Chiefs are able to obtain a big lead early on they cannot let up and play loose. The Chiefs and Jaguars matched up earlier in the season but the chiefs won the game the Jaguars almost pulled off a comeback. If the Chiefs watched wildcard weekend they’d want to avoid playing loose if they have a lead. The Chiefs have been one of the league’s best teams and are favorites to win this game with Patrick Mahomes leading the way on offense. The Chiefs defense has been playing well but cannot allow Lawrence to catch fire or else it could ultimately cost them.

A Saturday matchup with a lot on the line and the winner punches their ticket to the AFC Championship Game.

Score Prediction: Chiefs Win (35-24)

New York Giants Vs Philadelphia Eagles

The New York Giants are coming off their impressive win over the Minnesota Vikings as Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley put the team on their backs. They will be heading to Philly to face the Eagles who are a very familiar fo as both teams played already twice this season. The Eagles won both contests against the Giants making it look easy but this time around the Giants already have a playoff win under their belts. Jalen Hurts still isn’t 100% but he will make the best of this opportunity for a chance to get to the NFC Championship game.

The Giants will need to repeat what they did to the Vikings last week this week in Philly. Daniel Jones did not look like he was starting in his 1st ever playoff game. Jones looked like a 13-year veteran playing in his 20th playoff game or something. Jones was able to carve the Vikings up with his arm and he was able to run through them when needed if the pocket collapsed. The Eagles know all about Jones and will have to contain him in that pocket if they’re going to win this game. Last week we saw the emergence of Isaiah Hodgins who came out of nowhere with 8 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. This Giants team will need him and they will need to lean on Barkley a lot in this one if they want to pull the upset. Barkley did it all out of the backfield between running and catching passes so look for that again. The Giants defense will have their hands full trying to slow down Hurts who has been a beast all year long. The main focus will be to slow down AJ Brown and Devonta Smith if they can do that then this could be a close game.

The Eagles are coming off their bye week as they sat patiently waiting for their opponent. They now know it’s the Giants and they will have to do what they did in the regular season. Just make sure you take care of the ball and run the time of possession. The more the Philly offense is on the field the better as Jalen Hurts will make them pay if they’re not ready. Hurts has some special wide receivers to throw the ball to in Brown/Smith but he has an all-pro tight end in Goedert who’s been reliable. The Eagles running attack starts with Hurts but gets finished off by Miles Sanders so look for them to wear down this Giants defense ASAP. The Eagles defense has one of the best-run defenses and they had the most sacks this season as they know how to get to the quarterback. The Eagles will need to make it tough on Daniel Jones all day to make them one-dimensional with Barkley so they can stack the box.

The Eagles have all the offensive weapons to make this a quick blowout but the Giants have been playing with grit and heart so this could be interesting.

Score Prediction: Eagles Win (24-21)

Dallas Cowboys Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

An NFC battle in the Wildcard round of the playoffs between the visiting (12-5) Dallas Cowboys and the (8-9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be the game of the weekend. Tom Brady is undefeated in his career against the Dallas Cowboys as he tries to make it 9-0 in his career. Kickoff is expected at 7:15 (Central Daylight Time).

The Cowboys head into this matchup with Dak Prescott under center and he’s ready to redeem himself for the loss against the 49ers last year. The Cowboys come into the matchup scoring the most points in the NFL this season. Dak has the arm and talent to get it done but he will need to limit the turnovers. The Cowboys have one of the best running back duos in the NFL with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Both of them bring a lot to the table when it comes to running and catching out of the backfield. Dak will need to lean on them to balance this game out so the Bucs don’t get to Dak. Now on the outside Dak has one of the best receivers in the NFL in CeeDee Lamb to throw the ball too so look for big plays. Lamb, Gallup, and Schultz will need to create some space and opportunity for Dak to be great. On the defensive side, Micah Parsons will be looking to get to Tom Brady before he can get the ball out to his receivers. The Cowboys have a great defense but they will need to contain the run game as well. Look for this to be a great matchup that could turn into a defensive battle.

The Buccaneers are at home hosting with a losing record but don’t let them fool you. Any time you have the GOAT Tom Brady under center your team has a chance. The good thing for the Bucs is the fact that their offense started getting it going last weekend as Brady was able to connect with Mike Evans. The Bucs have a great offense and they will need to get it going if they want to beat the Cowboys. Look for them to get Godwin, Evans, and Gage involved ASAP. The Bucs have a great running back duo as well with Fournette/White and they will need to help Brady in the run/pass game. The Bucs defense will need to slow down Dak Prescott and that high-octane offense. If the Tampa defense can get to Dak and force some turnovers this could help out in a big way. If Tom Brady gets help from the defense it could be a long night for the Cowboys because he’s the best at reading defensive looks.

The Cowboys will need to outscore the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they want to get that first win against Tom Brady.

Score Prediction: Cowboys Win (31-24)

Miami Dolphins Vs Buffalo Bills

NFL wildcard weekend will feature an AFC East showdown between the (9-8) Miami Dolphins and the (13-3) Buffalo Bills on Sunday at 12:00 PM (Central Daylight time). This will be the third time these two teams have played each other this season.

The big news coming out of the Dolphins team this week is Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will not be available to play against the Bills due to concussion protocols. The Dolphins will look to turn to Teddy Bridgewater who is questionable to play. This team started off hot but during the second half of their season, things went downhill, and barely found a way to make the playoffs. The Dolphins defense will have a lot to worry about with a high-powered Bills offense.

The Bills have been one of the league’s hottest teams this year. This Bills offense has no doubt been dangerous to play, Allen has been able to throw and run the ball in key situations and has been difficult to stop. Stefon Diggs had himself another great year, the Allen and Diggs duo will look to cause trouble in their playoff campaign. As for the defense they’ve also been able to get the job done. The Bills do have home field advantage and a healthier team so a Bills victory could be very likely but nothing is guaranteed in the NFL.

A divisional matchup between the Dolphins and the Bills could be an intense matchup in the playoffs.

Score Prediction: Bills win (28-10)

Baltimore Ravens Vs Cincinnati Bengals

An AFC North divisional matchup in the Wildcard round of the playoffs between the (10-7) Baltimore Ravens and the (12-4) Cincinnati Bengals could be a game to watch out for. This is their third matchup of the year against each other, Kickoff is expected at 7:15 (Central Daylight Time).

The Ravens head into this matchup with Lamar Jackson unlikely to play due to injury and quarterback Tyler Huntley who is also dealing with a shoulder injury. So the Ravens do have a difficult situation on their hands and with Jackson’s absence they’ve struggled on offense. With Roquan Smith hitting his stride on this Ravens defense, the defense has stepped up and hasn’t really allowed opponents to score many points, but their secondary hasn’t been able to slow down opposing offenses and that will be something to look out for ahead of this matchup.

The Bengals are defending AFC champions in this playoff tournament. They beat the Ravens just last week, and have to face them yet again for the third time this season, The Bengals will look to send their division rivals back home. Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense started off their season shaky but have picked up the pace and won their AFC North division and have home field advantage this week. But this Bengals offense is healthy now and set to make another Super Bowl fun. As for the Bengals defense they’ve been able to stop the run game from opposing offenses but have struggled against the passing game, same issue as last season but not as bad as last season.

The Bengals will look to yet again beat their divisional rivals and send the Ravens back home for the offseason.

Score Prediction: Bengals Win (32-17)

New York Giants Vs Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings come into this matchup with the Giants (9-7-1) as the favorites. Minnesota has a record of 13-4 that they can’t bring into the postseason but if we learned anything from this team they are gritty. The Vikings have won the most games within a single score and this matchup at 3:30 PM Central should be another nail-biter.

The Minnesota Vikings have one of the best 3 headed monsters in the NFL. The quarterback Kirk Cousins has been a great QB all season long as he’s limited his turnovers and has found his receivers. Another part of that 3 headed monster is Justin Jefferson who has become the favorite target for Kirk Cousins really quickly. Jefferson will be looking to make some noise in this home game as he will try to make the Giant’s secondary look silly. Jefferson has been a reception machine and if the Vikings are going to win this game they will need him to remain one of the best in the game. The next part of that 3 headed monster is Dalvin Cook and if the chef can get cooking on the ground it will open up things for Cousins to have time to hit Jefferson, Theilen, and others in the passing game. Dalvin Cook will need to punish that Giant’s defense in this game to wear them down as the offense will need to keep this close against New York.

The Viking’s defense has been really good with Smith, Hicks, and Kendricks all year. They will have their hands full with Daniel Jones who can throw and run with the best of them. Also, it will be tough to slow down Saquon Barkley who is finally in the NFL Playoffs and ready to pop off at any moment.

The Giants will have their hands full trying to stop Cousins, Cook, and Jefferson. If they’re going to do it this will need to be a collective effort. The Giants don’t have a true threat at the defense but if they all can manage the game and clock this could be a slugfest. The Giant’s offense will have to be the defense as well because this game will be all about clock management. If the Giants can keep the ball away from the Viking’s offense this could work in their favor. Barkley will be ready to run and catch the ball out of the backfield at an elite level. The Giants have Slayton, Hodges, and James that can catch the ball from Jones but they will need to include some RAC. The Giants were close to beating the Vikings in their last matchup so we will see what they can do this time around.

Score Prediction: Vikings Win (28 – 17)
