The Minnesota Timberwolves Debut Their New Jersey In Style Beating Utah (123-95)

The Minnesota Timberwolves Debut Their New Jersey In Style Beating Utah (123-95)

The Minnesota Timberwolves I’m coming off a big win against the defending champs the Denver Nuggets. Tonight they were going against the Utah Jazz who would lead by Lauri Markkanen. Both teams play great defense, and this was going to be a good test inside the paint tonight.

The game started off neck and neck as the Utah Jazz were able to score efficiently from the three-point line tonight. It seemed as though every time the Minnesota Timberwolves got to stop, the Utah jazz were able to create off a second chance points. Lauri Markkanen took advantage of a lot of broken plays on the defensive end, where he was able to make the Minnesota Timberwolves pay with a three pointer. Lauri Markkanen finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist on the evening. He was able to cause a little trouble in the first half for the Minnesota Timberwolves but once they made the second half adjustments, they were able to contain Lauri Markkanen a lot more. It was tough for the Minnesota Timberwolves to contain him in that first half knowing that Jaden McDaniels was in fire trouble throughout the whole game. The one thing that Minnesota Timberwolves do well is score off their turnovers. The Timberwolves forced 18 turnovers for the Utah Jazz tonight and we’re able to show everyone while they one of the best if not the best defensive teams in the whole entire league.

The second half of this game the Minnesota Timberwolves completely dominated. Karl-Anthony Towns made the proper adjustments at the half, and came out like a man possessed. Towns was able to get to his spots and hit his three pointers at a consistent rate scoring 15 of his 25 points in the third quarter alone. Everyone in Target Center knew exactly what the Jazz didn’t know and that is the fact that when Karl-Anthony Towns how’s it going like that he’s unstoppable. Townes was able to be aggressive inside and outside the paint and was able to finish with 7 rebounds as well on the night. Karl-Anthony Towns came out in the third quarter, and set the tone for the rest of this game.

It was Anthony Edwards, who turned the Jazz’s radio off for the night. Edwards had 19 at the half and didn’t even score in the third quarter but finished with 31 points, rebounds, and 6 assists. He was special all night long and was able to hit the mid range, the three pointer, and even had some highlight finishes tonight. When Anthony Edwards has all phases of his game going is tough for any defense to stop and win the Minnesota Timberwolves play with the big league they are hard to stop. Anthony Edwards put the team on his back in the fourth quarter and finish the game with the highlight windmill dunk that had the whole crowd going crazy. When this team plays together like how they do tonight, nothing could get in the way of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Utah Jazz just didn’t have enough in the tank as the Timberwolves were able to pounce on them right away from the get-go.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be facing the undefeated Boston Celtics on Monday as they will have a true test in front of them that they will be ready to pass. I’m looking forward to the Anthony Edwards vs Jayson. Tatum matchup that we’re about to see as the future will be on display on Monday night.

Minnesota Timberwolves Defeat The Defending Champion Denver Nuggets (110-89)

Minnesota Timberwolves Defeat The Defending Champion Denver Nuggets (110-89)

Featured

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into this game with a bad taste in their mouths from Atlanta. The Timberwolves blew a 21 point lead in Atlanta and had a tough challenge awaiting them with the Denver Nuggets.

The Timberwolves came out playing with a lot of aggression and they made sure the Nuggets felt them on the defensive end. Tonight was all about the defense as Minnesota was able to force 15 turnovers for (24 points. The one thing that was extremely impressive was the fact that Jaden McDaniels was able to put on a defensive clinic with Jamal Murray. The star player didn’t score until 1:08 was left in the 1st half. Minnesota forced the Nuggets to try and make some tough shots tonight which they weren’t able to make. Nikola Jokic finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the game on 11-23 shooting. The Nuggets struggled as a whole especially with the swarming defense from the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves were able to get some amazing looks tonight inside and out. Anthony Edwards was able to lead the Wolves in scoring with 24 points but he was able to set the tone on the offensive end. When Anthony Edwards is able to get to the rim and get his shots going like he was able to tonight it opens things up for the team. Once Ant got it going they were able to get the ball to Karl-Anthony Towns because of the doubles that Ant forced. KAT finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds but he was pounding in the paint against Jokic. Karl has been aggressive on both ends of the floor and on the boards so far this season which has helped the Timberwolves big time. Rudy Gobert was able to defend at a high level in the paint and Jaden McDaniels has been disrupting the opposing offense.

Naz Reid has been as consistent as you can be so far this season. He came in and was instant offense right away. One thing about Naz Reid is the fact he’s been able to make the best of his opportunities with mismatches. Tonight Naz was able to finish the game with 16 points and and he was able to dominate inside and outside the paint. The Denver Nuggets had no answer for them tonight, especially with the players that came off the second unit.

Minnesota Timberwolves will be getting ready to play the Utah Jazz Saturday at home.

Naz Reid Propels Timberwolves To Victory Over Heat (106-90)

Naz Reid Propels Timberwolves To Victory Over Heat (106-90)

Featured

The Minnesota Timberwolves came to into their home opener after losing to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night with a chip on the shoulder. One thing About this Timberwolves team is that they were always fight back no matter the situation. This is a young talented to group led by Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert. If the Timberwolves are going to win, it will need to start with those three in order to be successful this season.

Tonight the Minnesota Timberwolves went toe to toe with the Miami Heat who were playing without Jimmy Butler. With no Jimmy Butler in the lineup, the Minnesota Timberwolves had to focus on a heavy dose of Tyler, Herro and Bam Adebayo. The game was back-and-forth between both teams as Bam was able to get his offense going in the first half. Tyler Herro was able to get a lot of good looks in the first half as well as the Heat we’re able to keep it close.

The defense of the Timberwolves made it tough on Miami Heat when it came to the second half. All the easy back door cuts and wide-open jumpers that Miami Heat got in the first half were no longer available. The perimeter defense from Anthony Edwards, Naz Reid and the interior defense from Karl-Anthony Towns/Rudy Gobert was too much. When the Minnesota Timberwolves play defense like they did tonight they’re a tough team to beat. Tyler Herro finished with 22 points and Bam Adebayo finished with 19 points on the night.

Both weren’t as effective as they were in the 1st half and struggled late in this one. It could be fatigue from playing a back to back and it could be extended minutes as to why they struggled. But to be honest, the Timberwolves defense was swarming and they didn’t look back once they got a hold of the lead.

tonight was the night that Naz Reid came in and put on a show. He finished with the most points in Minnesota Timberwolves history on a home opener from reserve player with 25 points. It didn’t matter what he was doing. Tonight was just his night he scored inside and outside with ease. Naz Reid is one of the best players in the NBA when it comes to exploiting the mismatches. You could tell the Minnesota Timberwolves trust them, and they want to continue to use them as he looks like the early favorite for the Sixth Man of the Year in the NBA. Naz has been an ultimate teammate and a fan favorite in Minnesota. In his post game, he raved about the support from the fans and how he really appreciates them in the way that he plays you can tell that he does it for the fans and his teammates.

Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns both had dominate nights inside the paint as they were able to both get in double digit rebounds in back to back games. When both of them dominate the paint like they have so far in early season is going to be tough to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. The interior defense is matching the perimeter defense, as both are being displayed at a high-level with an elite offense as well. Rudy Gobert said it best post game that this Timberwolves team could be the best defensive team in the NBA. Only time will tell, but from the display of defense they put on tonight in the second half against the Miami Heat nothing should be able to get in the way.

Anthony Edwards struggled in this one but that doesn’t mean you can’t bounce back Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets the defending champions. Edwards was able to get his offense going in that fourth quarter, and that should roll over to the game on Wednesday. The only thing stopping Anthony Edwards is Anthony Edwards. He’s easily a top 10 player in the NBA and he will bounce back just like the All-Star that he is. Look for Anthony hours to be super aggressive on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets as he tries to get the Timberwolves to (2-1) on the season.

The Biggest Games of the 2023-2024 NBA Season

The Biggest Games of the 2023-2024 NBA Season

NBA

The NBA recently released its schedule for the 2023-2024 and it is filled with interesting storylines and matchups. From traded players lacing them up against their new teams to the debut of a shining new star, this season is packed with big games.

Lakers/Nuggets (10/24)
On Opening Day, we’re immediately treated to a Western Conference Finals rematch with the Lakers and Nuggets. The reigning  World Champion Denver Nuggets and their star-studded tag team of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray take on the King, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and much of the continuity they had from their deep playoff run.

Suns/Warriors (10/24)
The retooled Suns are put to the test in their first game, facing off against the 2022 NBA Champions Golden State Warriors. Kevin Durant faces off against the team he won back-to-back championships with,  alongside his running mate Devin Booker and the newly acquired Bradley Beal.

Mavs/Spurs (10/25)
The French phenom Victor Wembanyama is set to take center stage in his first game with the San Antonio Spurs. The number one pick will be thrown into the fire having to face off against the high-scoring duo of Kyrie Irving and the wizard Luka Doncic. However, the Spurs are more than just the 7’5” center with Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell primed to take a leap in the upcoming season under Coach Pop’s tutelage.

Lakers/Suns (10/26)
After an up-and-down season that resulted in a Western Conference Finals run, all eyes are on the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James is heading into his 21st season in the league and while last year saw him become the league’s all-time leading scorer, King James and the rebuilt Lakers are looking to bring an 18th banner to Crypto Arena. The Phoenix Suns on the other hand are looking for redemption after a tough loss in the first round to the eventual NBA Champion Denver Nuggets. Having acquired Bradley Beal to form one of the most deadly trios in the league on paper, this could be a potential look at a playoff series down the road.

Miami/Boston (10/27)
The fiery rivalry between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat comes to a head once again to start the season. Jayson Tatum and Jimmy Butler went to battle in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second year in a row, this time with the Miami Heat emerging victorious. After a brutal ankle roll held Tatum back in Game 7 of the ECF, he’s sure to have this game circled on his calendar. And Jimmy? He has every game circled on his calendar.

GSW/Sac (10/27)
The Sacramento Kings snapped the longest postseason drought in NBA History during the 2022-2023 season heading to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Not only did they light the beam, they lit up teams with their high-powered offense. The young upstarts also took the then-reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors to seven games before succumbing to the more battle-tested team.

Lakers/HOU (11/8)
The Houston Rockets went all out this off-season, restructuring their youthful lineup and securing some much-needed veteran talent. One of those veterans? The feisty, defensive-minded forward Dillon Brooks made waves with his statements on LeBron’s age during the first round of the playoffs. Brooks will once again face off against LeBron as one of the league’s foremost pests.

Wolves/Warriors (11/12)
The Minnesota Timberwolves are starting to make a name for themselves, particularly their star guard Anthony Edwards. Edwards, known for his competitive mentality has been bringing his signature fire to Team USA during the summer. After a summer of tutelage under the Warriors coach, Ant and the T-Wolves get to prove themselves early against the Warriors. Perhaps Ant will get that dunk on Draymond he’s always wanted.

NO/Mem (12/19)*
The Pelicans and Grizzlies will forever be entangled due to the 2019 Draft. The Pelicans and Grizzlies selected South Carolina natives at the number 1 and 2 picks respectively Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. This TNT game could be a highlight of the season with a hopefully healthy Zion ready to take on a potentially returning Ja Morant who was suspended for 25 games of the 2023-2024 season. This nationally televised game just happens to be the 26th game on the schedule. Could 12 make his return that night?

GSW/Denver (12/25)
The previous two NBA Champions face each other on Christmas Day, truly a gift for hoop fans! Golden State is looking to regain its status as top dog after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round and the only way to return to champion-level status is to beat the reigning Champs.

Dallas/Phx (12/25)
Though it’s not rivalry week just yet, the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns matchup is one fueled by hot blood. Devin Booker and Luka Doncic have a well-documented history and are at the forefront for young guards in the league. Add in the separation of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets and you have a match-up filled with coursing with intrigue.

GSW/Mem (1/15)
“The dynasty starts after you,” said Draymond Green in reference to Dillon Brooks’ comments on the contentious GSW-Memphis matchups. Well, with the absence of Dillon Brooks and the return of Ja Morant to the lineup, fans can see a rivalry renewed and two of the most electric point guards in the league face off in otherworldly shooter Steph Curry and the rim-rattling Ja Morant.

OKC/Spurs (1/24)
The future of the big man position faces off when the Number 2 pick of the 2022 Draft and the Number 1 pick of the 2023 Draft face off to start NBA Rivals Week. Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren previously faced off during the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup with Holmgren’s Team USA taking the dub. The two big men both have a tantalizing skill set and a layer of mystery due to Chet missing the entirety of the 2022-23 season. Could this matchup be the start of a long rivalry between the two slender, towering figures?

Mia/NYK (1/27)
Jimmy Buckets, Bam Adebayo, and the Miami Heat take on Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and the New York Knicks. The history of competition between the Knicks and Heat practically dates back to the Heat joining the NBA as a part of the 1988 expansion. Now after their second-round match-up last year, both teams are looking to cement themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Phi/Denver (1/27)
The battle of the big men returns for NBA Rivals week with Joel Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers taking on Nikola Jokic and the World Champion Denver Nuggets. The two previous MVPs will come face-to-face after a hotly debated MVP race that saw Joel Embiid earn his first MVP award. Could this later-season battle be yet another preview of this year’s MVP race?
