Denver Nuggets Tie The Series (2-2) After Defeating Minnesota (115-107)

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into this game with the 2-1 lead as they were looking to go up 3-1 in the best of seven series. It was one of those games that was back and forth all night long.

The Denver Nuggets got a huge game from Aaron Gordon who finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. The game plan for the Timberwolves was simple let’s have Aaron Gordon try to beat us. From the looks of it that’s what happened as he was making some tough contested shots all night long. When a player is playing this good on the road all you can do is respect it. Once Gordon got his game going he was playing with confidence and that fed through his team. Every time the Timberwolves were trying to claw back into the game it seemed as though Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray made some tough buckets.

Both Murray and Jokic combined for 54 points on the night but they were making some timely buckets. The Nuggets kept their foot on the gas for every single Timberwolves run as Minnesota just couldn’t break through.

The bright spot for the Minnesota Timberwolves was Anthony Edwards as he was able to put the team on his back. He gave it everything he had tonight in Target Center and needed just a little bit more help from his teammates as they could have pulled off the win. Anthony Edwards was able to score whenever he needed too as he finished with 44 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Timberwolves just needed someone to join him as they were able to make the right adjustments defensively. The Nuggets had just enough lead to keep the Wolves away.

Game 5 will be huge as both teams will look to come out executing at a high level. The Wolves just need someone to help Ant with scoring and they gotta lock in defensively if they want to make this series victory happen.

The Minnesota Timberwolves Take The 1-0 Series Lead After Game 1 Victory In Denver (106-99)

The Minnesota Timberwolves Take The 1-0 Series Lead After Game 1 Victory In Denver (106-99)

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into the 2nd round of the playoffs knowing that they had a tough challenge ahead with Denver. The Nuggets are the defending champions and they eliminated the Timberwolves on the way to their 1st NBA Championship. The Wolves started the series on the road with a bang as Anthony Edwards put the team on his back early.

Anthony Edwards was on fire to start the game as he was able to get some easy buckets at the rim early. Once Edwards starting getting that rhythm going then it was going to be a long night for the Nuggets. Edward’s had 13 points in that 1st quarter and was trying to make a statement in this one. On the flip side Michael Porter Jr was able to hit some tough shots in the 1st to keep the Nuggets in the game when it looked like Minnesota was going to pull away. MPJ was able to get the Nuggets offense going and that translated to his teammates starting to play with confidence as well. Nikola Jokic picked up on that trend from MPJ as he started to get some easy looks once Gobert/Towns got in some foul trouble.

On the night Nikola finished with 32 points but it wasn’t enough to get the win as his counter part Jamal Murray was still playing banged up. The Timberwolves made it tough on Murray all night long as he shot 6/14 from the field for only 17 points. It was a quiet 17 points as the Timberwolves threw multiple defenders at Murray it didn’t matter if it was McDaniels, Edwards, or Alexander-Walker. The Wolves made it tough on him with the length tonight and it showed.

Anthony Edwards finished with 43 points tonight and put on a show against the defending champions. You can tell he’s playing with some aggression and revenge on his mind. The way that Anthony Edwards has grown as a playmaker and a scorer this season has been spectacular just like Game 1’s performance. If he can continue to play at this rate some that consistency the Wolves will be able to make some noise.

The 4th quarter was all about TWO WORDS “Naz Reid” as he was able to get his game going after showing some slight frustration. The 6th Man of the Year showed up and finished with a playoff career high 16 points. The Wolves needed all over those points from him as it was a close game down the stretch but this season the Wolves are poised and patient. KAT and Rudy played major parts in the game from a length/defensive standpoint so if the Timberwolves want to leave with a 2-0 advantage back to Minnesota they will need to match that.

Game 2 is on Monday night as the Timberwolves will take their 1-0 lead into that game trying to go back home 2-0. It’s expected that the Wolves are going to see big efforts from Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray so they need to just lock in defensively and limit turnovers for that to happen for them.

Anthony Edwards 33 Point Performance Powers Minnesota To The (1-0) Series Lead Against Phoenix (120-95)

Anthony Edwards 33 Point Performance Powers Minnesota To The (1-0) Series Lead Against Phoenix (120-95)

The Minnesota Timberwolves and the fanbase heard all the talk about the Phoenix Suns beating them all during the regular season. The regular season is in the past and now we’re on to a new season in the playoffs now.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns were going back and forth to start the game off. This was a huge difference today for the Timberwolves as they limited the turnovers and executed the game plan to perfection. The one player that they couldn’t contain early in this game was Kevin Durant as he was hitting some tough shots over defenders like McDaniels, Edwards, and Towns. The Phoenix Suns were staying close in this game because of the play from Kevin Durant as he looked unguardable from everywhere on the court.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made the proper halftime adjustments and idk what was said to Anthony Edwards but he came out like a man on a mission. Anthony Edwards was going toe to toe with his favorite player Kevin Durant in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs and he was letting him hear it. Both shared a smile and chest bump moment but you can see the respect from a mile away. Anthony Edwards had a 3rd quarter to remember as he had 18 of his 33 points in that quarter. Anthony Edwards was hitting the fadeaway, getting to the rim, and hitting the 3 pointer. It was special to watch as the Ant Man was loose and the Suns had no answer for him. When Anthony Edwards gets it going like that it’s impossible to stop him and he continued to let the Suns know that they’re coming.

Karl-Anthony Towns was able to add in 19 points in this one and Nickeil Alexander Walker was able to come in with +28 tonight in his minutes finishing with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. When the other guys step up tonight like they did it can be a king series for the Phoenix Suns. Rudy Gobert was dominant inside the paint with a playoff double double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. His defense inside and outside the paint today was huge for the success of this team.

The Phoenix Suns are down (0-1) in this best of 7 series right now but look for them to try and get back on track in Game 2 on Tuesday. If the Wolves have a repeat of todays showing it could be a quick series and the Suns fans don’t want to see that.

Anthony Edwards Career High 51 Points Propels Minnesota To Victory Over The Wizards (130-121)

Anthony Edwards Career High 51 Points Propels Minnesota To Victory Over The Wizards (130-121)

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into tonight fighting to stay in 1st place in the Western Conference. What the Wolves didn’t know is that they would be fighting against the 15 win Washington Wizards in this game tonight.

From the tip-off Washington came out on fire hitting everything they put up. Kispert, Poole, and Avdija were making some tough shots to start this game out and they were contested with hands from the Timberwolves defenders. The Timberwolves started out slow tonight and the fast paced Washington Wizards took full advantage of it as they were winning the rebound/assist category in that 1st half.

The two players that made it tough on the Timberwolves defense all night for the Wizards was Jordan Poole & Corey Kispert. We know that Jordan Poole can make some amazing shots but the shots he was hitting in that 1st half just didn’t make any sense. Poole was able to showcase his shooting ability with his bright green light as he finished with 24 points and 6 assists. Corey Kispert was making some tough buckets too and finished with 25 points.

After that halftime adjustment from Coach Finch the Timberwolves cracked down on things and started playing their style of basketball. Naz Reid got ejected early in this game as he hit Johnny Davis with an elbow to the head that didn’t look like it was on purpose. Once Naz got ejected Anthony Edwards turned his game up to another level and was unstoppable.

The great thing about this huge performance is that Anthony Edwards still finished with 7 assists showing that he can share the rock with his teammates. Anthony Edwards had the mid range fadeaway working, attacking the rim working, and his 3 point jumper all clicking tonight. Edwards put on a shooting display and was able to put the team on his back all the way to his 51 points which are a career high.

Rudy Gobert was dominant as well tonight finishing with 19 points and 16 rebounds but the huge X-Factor tonight was Nickeil Alexander-Walker. NAW was able to make some big shots in the 1st half to keep the Timberwolves in this one and his play on both sides of the floor was clutch for Minnesota. It sucks that it had to happen when Naz got ejected but this is a huge confidence booster for NAW leading into the playoffs as he was able to help the Wolves in a major way with 23 points off the bench while creating for his teammates.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a back to back as they will be heading to Denver for a showdown with the Nuggets to see who will get that 1st seed in the Western Conference. It should be a classic especially after this huge performance from Anthony Edwards.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting to get to number one in the Western Conference and they’re hoping to stay there. On the way to that path they will have to take on the Houston Rockets who have been on fire as of late. Jalen Green has been playing out of his mind as well. The matchup between Anthony Edwards and Jalen Green is always special and the Minnesota fans should be in for a great game.
