*UPDATE (1) *
NFL Network’s James Palmer reports they initial diagnosis is a dislocated patella for Mahomes:
Patrick Mahomes suffered a patella (kneecap) dislocation. I’m told there was no break. MRI will reveal if there is any ligament damage.

With the Kansas City Chiefs inside the 10 yard line, Andy Reid opted to remain aggressive and go for it on fourth and short. The team opted to utilize the quarterback sneak and Patrick Mahomes got just enough to give Kansas City a new set of downs.
However, as bodies removed themselves from the pile, one player remained on the ground: Mahomes.

The quarterback already was dealing with a bum ankle prior to this game and at first it seemed as if he had re-injured it for the third straight week. Yet, when the trainers came on the field it looked like they popped his knee back into place.

He was immediately escorted to the locker room and then taken to get an X-Ray. In the back, Mahomes had a very minimal limp at that time.

However, he was almost instantly ruled out for the remainder of tonight’s game. The respected Twitter doctors have diagnosed the reigning MVP with a dislocated right patella (aka kneecap). How long he will miss didn’t receive a clear answer with some saying he could be back in a couple weeks and others saying he could require season-ending surgery.
Definitely not ideal. But you can see the medical staff “re-locate” the patella (kneecap) here. As with anything dislocated, restoring normal position immediately decreases pain. Further Imaging to determine full extent of injury (associated soft tissue, etc). More to come. https://t.co/2WRTQ4uJWH

Patrick Mahomes with patella (knee cap) dislocation. Can be treated without surgery and brace. Could miss just a few weeks. Could also have season ending surgery. MRI will determine which course.
