Baker is finally on the move as the Browns trade Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers. In
return the Browns to get a conditional fifth-round draft pick.
Long overdue after the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans. Baker
Mayfield waited months for the Browns to make a decision and Baker was ready to go. Mayfield had moved
on already from the Browns and wanted nothing to do with the team.
Last season in Cleveland Baker Mayfield had 3,010 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Baker was hurt and was missing a lot of his offensive weapons. It will be interesting to see what Baker does with Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore as primary targets in Carolina. This will be an automatic upgrade from Sam Darnold who’s dropped the ball with his opportunities behind the O-Line.
Both the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns play each other in Week 1 which should be an epic battle.
Panthers will have to pay $4.85 million of Mayfield’s salary and the Browns will pay the remaining
$10.5 million while Mayfield has decided to forgo the remainder of his 18.8 million to complete the deal Baker Mayfield was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft.
After some up and downs in Cleveland, he looks to revamp his career in Carolina but it will not be easy. He is going to be competing for the No. 1 quarterback spot against Sam Darnold who was the No. 3 pick in the 2018 draft. So
depending on if Baker wins the starting job week match-up against his former team is going to be very interesting to watch.
