The ‘What The’ Air Jordan IV is the perfect fusion

Sneaker Releases

Nike is known for taking risks on their legacy shoes. Whether it be revamping them with a new technology or making them more breathable, Nike is always putting innovation and renovation at the forefront. Nothing has made an impact as much as their “What The” series which combines multiple colorways into a shoe in a sort of patchwork quilt format. The newest pair in the series takes one of the most celebrated shoes in the Air Jordan IV and cloaks it in some of the best colors the shoe has ever seen.

Taking inspiration from the “Fire Red,” “Bred,” “Military Blue,” and “White Cement” colorways, the “What The” 4s are the ultimate fusion of Air Jordan 4 colorways. Whereas many pairs in the “What The” series have a tendency to look too busy these are a perfect blend of some of the most legendary colors in Jordan IV history.

Look for these to drop November 23.

3. Patrick Mahomes

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Position: QB

Experience: 2 Years

“With the 10th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Patrick Mahomes II, QB”. Ever since that night, nothing was the same. As the Chiefs began to slip into mediocrity, Andy Reid knew they needed a long term answer. Little did everyone know that draft night would completely alter the landscape of the NFL. As a rookie, Mahomes was the backup to Alex Smith, playing in only the final regular season game. Smith proved to be a great mentor for Mahomes, as his professionalism clearly rubbed off on the young talent.

Mahomes truly had a historic 2018 season, breaking multiple Chiefs all time records. In Mahomes 16 regular season starts, the Texas Tech product threw for a record setting 5097 Yards and 50 TDs. He broke the Chiefs record for Touchdowns, Yards, Passer Rating and Passes Completed, just to name a few. Mahomes led the league in Touchdowns, Touchdown Percentage and QBR. He was easily the most influential offensive player in the game.

After capturing the MVP award in 2018, Mahomes has his eye on bigger prizes heading into 2019. Kansas City made major moves throughout the offseason, with the latest being the addition of Veteran RB LeSean McCoy. McCoy has had his troubles the last few years with the struggling Bills, but his return to Andy Reid and his schemes may rejuvenate his young legs. The Chiefs were one Dee Ford offside call away from the Super Bowl in 2018, and with another year of Mahomes and Reid at the helm, it is championship or bust in Kansas City.

The real question is how could 9 teams have passed up this talent back in 2017? The Chicago Bears were the only team to select a QB before Mahomes, electing to go with North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky. Plenty of time to tell but as of now what a mistake that was! In the Bears defense, overlooking Mahomes was somewhat easier in 2017, as his college coach Kliff Kingsbury employed a high powered aerial attack that wasn’t certain to translate at the next level. T

Mahomes is truly a generational talent, and his passion for the game matches it. Comparisons to Brett Favre are becoming common early in his career. Ultimately, Mahomes could go down as one of the best to ever play the position. Ever if Mahomes numbers decrease, he will be one of the best gunslingers in the league for the next decade and a half. Mahomes could certainly find himself at the top of SneakerReporter’s Top 30 countdown for years to come.

Common’s “Let Love,” Album Promotes the Practice of Loving One Another

Common’s “Let Love,” Album Promotes the Practice of Loving One Another

Celebs

It’s been about 25 years since Common has graced our ears with a story about a girl he met as a kid with whom he eventually fell in love. That girl was Hip Hop, that song was “I Used to Love H.E.R.,” off his 1994 sophomore album Resurrection. Well, Common has returned to yet again profess his love for Hip Hop in the newly released album “Let Love,” inspired by his best-selling memoir Let Love Have the Last Word, in which he opened up about his relationship struggle both platonic and romantic.

“The music is not a song based on every chapter on the book,” he explained. “It just allowed me to go to different places and gave me a theme on what I wanted to write about and a guide. Once I get a title, I feel great about creating the music. It sets the tone for whatever the movie I want to create is gonna be.”

Earning the recognition as one of entertainment’s busiest men having his has in various projects, from film and TV to video games and book publishing to political activism. Common hasn’t lost his love for music.

“I was able to set and focus for a while and not try to do any movies and do too many extra things besides just focus on music, which has been new for me in a minute. But I felt it was that important to me so I just wanted to put my heart and soul for it.”

“Let Love,” features 11 tracks with guest appearances from Daniel Caesar, Swizz Beatz, Leon Bridges, Dwele, and Leikeli47, with production from Karriem Riggins, Samora Pinderhughes, A-Trak, and the legendary J Dilla on single “HER Love”.

Most fans know what to expect from a Common album, love ballads, dedication songs, historical references to the black experience and Hip Hop’s trending topics; occasional environmental awareness and politics as usual. But this form of conscience rap and poetic love is needed in these times of uncertainty and unjustified hate. Possibly not everyone’s cup of tea, this is a must-listen at least once.

“The book was the seed that started me in this conversation,” he told Apple Music. “I believe that the energy of love and the act of love, the practice of it, is the thing that we can use as individuals and as people to overcome the heaviness of the times. When I say ‘Let Love,’ I’m saying put love into practice. Allow love to be the law that we abide by.”

SneakerReporter NFL Top 30: #4 Aaron Rodgers

SneakerReporter NFL Top 30: #4 Aaron Rodgers

Featured

4. Aaron Rodgers

Team: Green Bay Packers

Position: QB

Experience: 14 Years

Aaron Rodgers has long been considered the most talented quarterback in the NFL. He has the ability to  throw the ball down the field. He can move in the pocket and is a threat to get yards on the ground. He is deadly accurate. Anything a coach would want their quarterback to do, Rodgers has shown that he is more than capable of doing at a high-level over the course of his 14-year career. He really doesn’t have much left to prove to anyone about his skills and his talents on the field.

Yet, we enter this year with arguably the most questions about Rodgers’ game since he took over for Green Bay Packers legend, Brett Favre in 2008. Since he’s been a starter, he’s operated in one system under one head coach. However, the Packers choose to fire Mike McCarthy during the season last year. As is the trend in the NFL today, they sought a coach from the Sean McVay coaching tree to replace him in Matt LaFleur. He was the Rams offensive coordinator in 2017. He also has experience working under another offensive genius as LaFluer was the quarterbacks coach in Atlanta with Kyle Shanahan serving as the offensive coordinator.

Rodgers has become accustomed to calling the shots from the line of scrimmage and with the time and knowledge he had working with McCarthy he was essentially his own offensive coordinator. By the end of McCarthy’s tenure there was a noticeable rift between the two. The hope is that removing that toxicity in the facility and giving the offense a facelift will unlock a version of Rodgers that is even better than what we’ve grown used to over the last decade stretch of his playing career.

The front office has done a better job of trying to surround their star quarterback with elite talent. Davante Adams might not have made our list but he is a consensus choice for a slot among the top five receivers in the league today. If the younger members of the receivers room—Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantiling—can continue to improve this will be one of the better group of wideouts Rodgers has had. Pair that with a full season of Aaron Jones at running back and the Packers could look completely different on the offensive end under LaFleur’s coaching.

A return of peak Rodgers is not out of the question. If the rest of the team steps up to meet his level of play and production then he could be in line for another MVP season. NFL fans know how good he is but with just one Super Bowl victory he has yet to stand atop the pedestal of greatest of all-time among his quarterback peers and other noteworthy Hall of Fame players. With a new age of QB coming to make their mark—Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson, and Kyler Murray to name a few—time is running out on Rodgers reign as the league’s best quarterback.

The documentary chronicles his journey to superstardom and includes footage from his live shows and home videos from his childhood. This 85-minute film, directed by White Trash Tyler, allows viewers to see every side of Travis. Helping to humanize the rap star as just another person like you or me, this shown at several points in the film.

During his promotional tour his stop in Houston we saw the resurrection and recreation of the theme park bring notice to the city of Houston that Six Flags: Astroworld is needed for the community.

Upon releasing Astroworld it was shown that Travis wanted the album to be perfect, give a view into his creative process. He plays the beat for “Butterfly Effect”  a numerous amount of times over the van’s speakers while coming up with lyrics and melodies. Showing that inspiration can strike as quick as lighting, virtually creating the song on the fly. Later on, his infectious energy is shown when as his engineer puts the finishing pieces on “No Bystanders,” yelling, jumping on furniture and bang his hands on the ceiling of the room as “Fuck the club up!” blast over the studio speakers.

During the period leading up to the Grammys, following the announcement of the nominees Travis is a little disappointed he wasn’t up for Album of the Year.

“We thought we were at least in that convo [for Album of the Year],” he says. “It’s still crazy, though. We made it on the board. This is bigger than anything we ever done in life.”

The night of the Grammys Travis’ demeanor showed his growing frustration as the night went on after losing each category he was nominated, eventually leaving empty-handed. It was revealed in a candid conversation with the mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner backstage at a concert his frustration stemmed from a want to bring a win back for Houston.

“After Sunday, I’ve been mentally, like, stressed. I’ve been down. I’ve been questioning. I don’t know, man. I’m lost.”

Mayor Turner responds with a pep talk about perseverance and faith, which ultimately helps to change Travis’ perspective. Referencing the possibility that a theme park could return to Houston because of Travis.

Lastly, viewers had the pleasure to see his paternal side, as he stepped into fatherhood from the moment Kylie became pregnant with Stormi, to cutting the umbilical cord, to him interact with his daughter in a fun and childish way. That made Travis more human than any of the other moments because he let his guard down and allowed us into a personal moment. It was as if I was watching my friend though his wild journey to stardom and fatherhood.   Image result for travis scott look mom i can fly
