Top 15 QB Rankings (2019-2020)

Quarterbacks are always a topic of discussion amongst Fantasy Football lovers. It really depends on your league and its scoring. In ESPN standard scoring leagues, QBs are often not selected until the later rounds, even though they might end up being your highest scoring player at the end of the year. The reason for this is the quantity of excellent QBs that are in the game, along with the fact that most leagues have you only starting one QB per week. Throwing Patrick Mahomes aside, the next 8 best QBs in per game scoring was within 2.7 points of each other. You can spend an early round pick on Mahomes, who is no doubt a game changer every week, but the drop off from elite RBs/WRs is a much steeper cliff. It will be difficult for Mahomes, who averaged 26.1 points/game in ESPN standard scoring to recreate those video game type numbers, especially after DCs have a full year of tape to game plan against him.

Spend your early-mid draft selections on FLEX players, assuming standard scoring (PPR or not). Instead of spending a mid round pick on a superstar QB, grab a flex position that you know will have a role in an offense, because you can still find excellent value QBs at very late rounds. If you play in a league where passing TDs count for 6 points, or a league where you start 2 QBs/week, it is much more crucial to grab one of the top guys earlier.

1. Patrick Mahomes

The obvious first QB taken in every single fantasy draft this year. With a 50 TD 5000 yard performance last year, the only question is how far will some reach to grab the reincarnation of Brett Farve.

2. Andrew Luck

Coming off a full season without injury, Luck is poised for another great year. The Colts ranked 5th in PPG last year largely in part to their terrific passing game, which ranked 6th in Passing Yards/Game last year. With a young and improving offensive line, Luck should see unbreakable pass protection which will allow for his continued success along and health. Luck is no doubt one of the best fantasy QBs available.

3. Aaron Rodgers

Even in the down year most would say Rodgers had, the man still threw for over 4400 yards, 25 TDs and a mere 2 INTs! There was clearly turmoil in how the offense was conducted under Mike McCarthy. With new coach Matt LaFleur taking charge, look for Rodgers to seek vengeance on the NFL and return to premiere fantasy QB standing.

4. Drew Brees

Not much you have to explain about Drew Brees playing with Sean Payton. The two have proven to be a deadly pairing on the offensive side of the ball, and their fantasy ranks show just that. The man hasn’t totaled less than 4000 yards since 2005, and 2017 was the only year since 2007 that Brees hasn’t totaled 30 TDs. The epitome of fantasy consistency.

5. Russell Wilson

Even in the most run heavy offense of 2018, Wilson still found a way to throw for 35 TDs. Wilson also has averaged 5.75 rushing attempts/game, with an astounding 5.6 yards/rush. Even if he doesn’t score many rushing TDs, this volume helps solidify his presence as a QB1.

6. Cam Newton

Another great example of a dual threat QB. Cam averages 7.5 rush attempts/game and 5.2 yards/carry. While Cam has proven he can be a great thrower at times, the consistency isn’t always there. Where the bulk of his value lies in fantasy in his ability to score on the ground, which constitutes 6 fantasy points vs. the 4 points he would get through the air (Standard Scoring).

7. Ben Roethlisberger

Big Ben led the league in passing yards last year with 5,129, and with his best receiver gone, Roesthlisberger will be forced to be at his best. With all the drama hanging over the Steelers last year, Big Ben quietly ended as the 3rd best fantasy QB (standard scoring). Look for him to continue his statistical relevance, but will it be enough to propel the Steelers to contention again?

8. Deshaun Watson

With a full year of game play in 2018, Watson proved he can be a fantasy stud. He threw for 4,165 yards and 26 TDs with another 551 yards and 5 TDs on the ground. This stat line led him to be the #4 ranked QB in standard scoring, which should be an encouraging sign for years to come.

9. Carson Wentz

People forget that Wentz is only two years removed from an MVP campaign. With the QB situation in Philly stable now along with his full health, look for him to have a great comeback year.

10. Matt Ryan

2010 was the last year Matty Ice threw for less than 4000 yards. Ryan is a very solid fantasy option, although his TD total year to year is somewhat of a roller coaster. Ryan was 3rd in passing yards last year and tied for 3rd in throwing TDs. Oh, and playing in a dome 8 times per/year doesn’t hurt his stock either.

11. Baker Mayfield

Coming off of an impressive rookie season in which Mayfield broke the record for most passing TDs by a QB with 27, Mayfield is destined for a great career. In an offense loaded with talent, Mayfield should continue to blossom into a star this year. Mayfield will be a consistent fantasy QB for a long time.

12. Phillip Rivers

It is unfathomable that Rivers is still overshadowed after throwing for over 4000 yards in every season besides 1 since 2007. Rivers has always and will always be a gunslinger, which is the jackpot for any fantasy owner. He is always around the 30 TD mark as well, which means you absolutely know what you’re getting when you draft Rivers.

13. Jared Goff

Coming off two outstanding seasons with an average of 4200 passing yards and 30 TDs, Goff has proven that he can play at a high level in this league. Jeff (8-8) Fisher is digging in his grave after watching how Sean McVay transformed the U-Cal Berkeley talent. In the most high-powered, well run offense in the league, Goff is another great option at QB.

14. Kirk Cousins

Although his big-game performances are in question, there is no denying Cousins success behind center in his last four seasons. In each of the last four years, Kirk has topped 4000 passing yards and 29 TOT TDs. A steady fantasy option, but certainly not top tier.

15. Kyler Murray

The first and only real question mark of this list. With Kingsbury in charge, Murray will undoubtedly get his chance to shine this year, but just how bright? Murray’s throwing accuracy and power in overshadowed by his ability to run. He really has a great arm and the Cardinals will need all the offense they can get to stay competitive in the nasty NFC West.

Is This The Next Shoe in Kobe’s Signature Line?

Is This The Next Shoe in Kobe’s Signature Line?

Featured

Could this be our first look at the next shoe in Kobe Bryant’s signature line?

Returning to the high cut look last seen on the Kobe 10 Elite, the Kobe line is looking to evolve once again. The new silhouette looks like it adapts the secure fit technology debuted in the Air Jordan 33–FastFit. It looks to continue the  trend of breathable Flyknit Kobes though it may also be the Quadfit mesh seen on the Converse All-Star Pro BB and PhantomVSN soccer cleat. The heel tag and high profile of this new model beard a striking resemblance to the Nike KD 12 with even more performance upgrades. The lateral side features a thin double stacked swoosh where as the medial side displays faint Kobe branding under the ankle strap near the heel.

As is the case with previous Kobe models, this new silhouette features a translucent cupsole for traction and stability. The new model doubles down on the lockdown aspect with a Kobe branded strap across the tongue at the ankle. There’s also an extra dose of padding at the heel reflecting on Kobe’s past achilles injury.

The combination of cupsole, FastFit technology, and knit structure ensure that this will be one of the most comfortable and functional kicks in Kobe’s line to date.

No word on the official release date of this new flagship model so keep it locked in for more information. Let us know how you feel about Kobe’s new kicks in the comments.

Alternate Verse Kanye West Name Drops Drake and J. Cole

As Drake is still enjoying the high of the Toronto Raptors winning an NBA championship and finally dropping those two tracks he promised fans last Thursday. To quote him “Still on top and these ni**as wanna swap…” to steal some of his shine, HipHop-N-More leaked a full version to an alternate version of Kanye West verse on Pusha-T’s Daytona track “What Would Meek Do? This version had lyrics aimed at both J. Cole and Drake setting Twitter a blazed.

The beef between Drake and Kayne has been while documented, subtle jabs, airing of dirty laundry, and dissing of one another shoe companies through lyrics, Kayne decided to play on the rumors of Drake leaving Nike for Adidas claiming he wears Yeezy sneakers while being signed to Nike:

Kanye hasn’t forgotten J. Cole “False prophets” which many feels was a diss, during an interview with Charlamagne, Kayne felt Cole was being a hater which addressed in these lines:

“I’m too complex for ComplexCon

You heard Cole on that song, he was tryna hate”

But Kanye shots at Nike didn’t stop there claiming the brand signed his protege Travis Scott and former manager Don C, because Adidas takeover was inevitable with Kayne on the roster:

“How can one man take a company down?

I can see Nike contemplatin’ that

“Like bro, we’re fucked, what’s the best plan?

I don’t know, hire Ye’s best man

Maybe sign Travis, sign Don C”

While the snippet may be old, a new Kanye track called “Brothers” featuring Charlie Wilson is set to debut during the season premiere of Irv Gotti’s BET anthology series “Tales” on July 2. Below is Rap Genius’ timeline of the beef between the two legends.

Trinkets Tackles Ethos of Shoplifters

Trinkets Tackles Ethos of Shoplifters

Celebs

New Netflix series “Trinkets” is an adapted of the YA novel by Kirsten Smith of the same name,  following Elodie (Brianna Hildebrand), Moe (Kiana Madeira), and Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell) who all come from different social circles but became friends thanks to their shoplifting addiction.

Being the new kid can be one of the biggest challenges of anyone, but imagine being that new kid in high school. Elodie is forced to adjust to her new family and surroundings of Portland, Oregon following her mother’s death in a car accident. The pain of loss still being new the way she grieves is to shoplift. In a Shoplifter Anonymous meeting, she said

“Trinkets” is an artistic look at how the habit of shoplifting can come into effect when someone is trying to regain a sense of control, Kristen Smith thinks the idea of shoplifting is particularly appealing to audiences that might be grappling with similar issues.

“A lot of young women are perhaps drawn to it because they don’t have enough control and power so it’s a way to seize it even if it’s misguided. It’s a way to fill some holes that you have inside with possessions,” Smith said. “I really wanted to get into what are the things that make you susceptible to this addiction. It’s a real thing. We wanted to explore all of these things in a way as earnest and true as possible.”

Tabitha’s reasoning for shoplifting is a need for control, as she feels the control has been lost in her abusive relationship. As she begins to find that power throughout the series her shoplifting lessons.

Elodie whose life is somewhat coming apart at the seams feel in order for her to take back what she has lost it is only right to take items away from others and the feeling it gave her is euphoric. In the first episode Elodie leaves a party she was unwillingly dragged too and wines up in front of a convenience store. As she goes down the aisle lifting a slim jim here and a pack of starburst their music begins to play as if she were performing an elaborate dance in front of an audience. That feeling of bliss is cut short after running into the security guard who then says “Really?”

Even when we see her suitcase full of items she’s lifted, the smile on her face is one that comes from great accomplishment.

“Some start after a loss, trauma, betrayal, or some difficult transition in their life,” he says. While there’s a buffet of maladaptive coping mechanisms people may gravitate towards during troubling times, such as substance abuse or gambling, shoplifting provides a specific type of thrill,” said Terry Shulman, author of Something for Nothing: Shoplifting Addiction and Recovery.

Shulman hopes that people who see Trinkets and are also struggling with shoplifting might be compelled to find support.

The Art of Taking An ‘L’ – Courtesy of the Nike SNKRS App

The Art of Taking An ‘L’ – Courtesy of the Nike SNKRS App

Featured

If you’re remotely into sneakers, or just into hyped up and limited releases, then you should be familiar with the process of how Nike launches them. The SNKRS app from Nike was created and launched in 2015 to make it more accessible for buyers to purchase limited sneaker releases. To “win” the opportunity to purchase a coveted release basically all you have to do is download the app and create a Nike+ account. Once you enter in your address and payment info the app automatically checks you out on sneaker launches you enter to win (if your entry is selected).

Unfortunately a lot of people are unhappy with how the current Nike SNKRS is run and have become increasingly frustrated with losing out on the opportunity to buy their favorite pairs. There are bots still beating the system and scooping up a majority of the pairs or people that just win constantly on the app with no intentions of wearing any of the pairs they secure. These reasons are plenty enough to give consumers across the sneaker world headaches.

We interviewed three normal, regular sneaker buyers who have done their fair share of collecting and asked them, “What are some things you would change about the Nike SNKRS app or how would you do it?” These are the responses and feedback we got from them:

Interviewee 1:

“I would create a better/fair opportunity for everyone to enter (the drawings). I also want to know what exactly are the qualifications to win a drawing/release? – if any. There should be a rewards program like FA and FL to give a more even playing field to win on the app. On big anticipated releases, make sure their (Nike’s) software doesn’t glitch out when we (the buyers) go to pay and whatnot. Lastly, Nike should create an extensive encryption to prevent bots. Go through a more verified identity process to prevent the same person creating a lot of ‘burner’ accounts.”

Interviewee 2:

“I would honestly like to see more ‘draws’ considering bots take all the first-come-first-serves and better chances at getting shoes. I would like more of a fair opportunity for people to buy shoes. They also have to fix the error when you type in your passwords and it says “invalid password” because of the app jamming up. When it is first-come-first-serve on the app it always crashes or bots buy them within minutes. I know people have fast hands but it’s to the point where me and my boy stay up all night and morning just to try and beat them (the bots). They should give each person ample time to get them or have you type in a code that’s specific to each phone. That might limit bots because only the user can have a phone but they need to limit how many accounts one person can use somehow.”

Interviewee 3:

“It’s really hard to tell if it’s fair, is it like the Footlocker app where if you spend enough you constantly win? It’s not hard to enter but I  always question if it’s fair. I’ve only hit on one actual ‘draw shoe,’ others were first-come-first-serve style. I hit on the “Off-White Blazers” draw style and for that I had 10 minutes to enter, then whatever happens, happens.”

What are your thoughts on the Nike SNKRS app? Would you change anything similarly to what our interviewees had in mind? How has your luck been as far as being selected on the app to purchase limited releases?
